Obviously, trust is something built over time. Discuss options with your coach, ask other athletes and talk to people you know in the basketball community to find out which agents have a trustworthy reputation.

EXPERIENCED

An agent with a variety of experience at different levels can offer many advantages. Look for someone who has a range of personal and business knowledge.

CONNECTED

An agent with solid relationships in the various basketball communities is essential. They should also be able to provide resources for you in areas of financial management, legal counsel and accounting services.

INFORMED

Ask questions. Your agent should be able to help educate you on the specifics of contracts, regulations on playing overseas, important dates and deadlines and provide insight that will help you succeed as a professional athlete.
